An introduction to language universals and characteristics of Korean language, and basic concepts and methods of general linguistics.

KLLE 151 INTRODUCTION TO SIN0-KOREAN LITERATURE [3]

This course is the introduction to develope the elementary knowledge of the structure of a Chinese character and cultivate the reading ability of a sino(Chinese)-Korean writing for assisting the study of the Korean literature.

KLLE 154 ADVANCED WRITING PRACTICE [3]

An introduction to the principles of sentence-rhetoric on the levels of vocabulary, sentence and discourse; and elevating the ability to judge and produce good sentences.

An Introduction to modern literary criticism in Korean ; reading of selected critical texts, and developing the students' ability to do critical reading of literary texts.

An introduction to the theories of speech and the application of them to the students for effective speaking.

KLLE 360 MIDDLE KOREAN GRAMMAR [3]

A survey of the grammatical system of Medieval Korean language; grammatical elements and their connections, and training in the ability to read old Korean texts.

KLLE 368 ANALYSIS OF KOREAN LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS AND THE TEACHING METHOD [3]

Analysis of Korean textbooks in secondary education and practical training in teaching Korean language.

KLLE 405 GRAMMAR AND KOREAN LIFE [3]

This course aims to develop the actual grammar ability in the Korean language life. From the Korean alphabet until a word, a sentence, a conversation, the students would be promote the ability to distinguish and use the correct Korean language expression.

KLLE 407 HISTORY OF MODERN KOREAN LITERATURE [3]

Discussions of some important topics and theories after the World War II in selected works from the modern Korean literature.

A discussion the theories for teaching modern Korean literary works in Korean textbooks, in secondary education.

KLLE 452 READING OF SINO-KOREAN POETRY [3]

Sino(Chinese)-Korean poetry is the essence of Sino-Korean literature. This course aims to develope the appreciative power of the beatiful Sino-korean poetry through choosing and reading the noticeable works out of the history of literature.

KLLE 453 INTRODUCTION TO 'HUNMINJEONGEUM' [3]

This lecture has goals to introduce Hunminjeongeum(訓民正音) with Hae-rye(explanation and examples) and related materials published in Joseon dynasty, and to read them in turn. This will give students a precious opportunity to understand the core of Korean culture in Korean linguistics.
